Extra ammo for concealed carry

There is some controversy over this topic but I'm going to talk about carrying extra magazines. A few years ago I bought an inside the waistband (IWB) holster for a Glock 19. It was a vinyl holster which made it a little thick but what really made it thick was the extra elastic pouch made for carrying an extra magazine.

Some die hard EDC (everyday carry) guys will tell you to carry at least one extra magazine maybe two. I'm here to tell you this; if 15 rounds in a Glock 19 doesn't get the job done, you've got bigger problems than running out of ammo.

Most self defense shootings occur at close range (5-7 feet) and usually only a single shot is fired. Some would argue the Aurora, Colorado shooting would dictate the need for more ammo. However, when a mass-murderer is shooting a semi-automatic rifle, a compact handgun isn't exactly the best offense.

The gun fights you see on TV where two guys are kneeling behind barrels exchanging 20+ rounds of fire are simply Hollywood theatrics.
